A Big Thank You to Asda in Farnborough
Farnborough Lions Club would like to express a big thank you to the staff and customers of Asda. In December and January as part of their Community Life Noticeboard Asda in Farnborough ran a Green Token collection for customers to drop green coin like tokens into transparent collection boxes to vote for 3 local charities to receive a donation for their work in the community .
The ballot was won by Farnborough Lions who were presented with a cheque for £200 by Debbie & Julie to Lions Fund Raising Chairman Mike Edwards in Asda's Farnborough branch.
This donation was used by the Lions to bring a day of happiness into the lives of local families who have been through difficult times in the last year.
Lions Clubs throughout the south of England annually hold a 'Lions Fun Day' at Poultons Park for families within their communities who have fallen on hard times due to illness, injury, disability, bereavement and many other heart-breaking reasons. This year the Lions throughout the district collectively took over 1,700 people to this event. Amongst those were 2 deserving families from Farnborough.
This special day out has become a traditional event amongst the Lions. For more than 25 years families who would not normally be able to enjoy a few hours of respite fun, that most of us would take for granted, have been taken by the Lions to Poultons Park. The generous donation from the customer vote in Asda this year has made that possible for 2 deserving Farnborough families for which we are very grateful.
